Dr. Schoenfeld was previously Vice President, Supply Chain Management at EMD Pharmaceuticals. His responsibilities included process and analytical development and manufacturing and supply operations for Merck KGaA (Darmstadt, Germany) global protein activities. He was responsible for the design of facilities and contracts with CMO's. Prior to EMD, he held several management positions at Genzyme over a seventeen year period. These positions included Senior Vice President, Engineering and Technology Development, Vice President of U.S. Manufacturing, and Director of Bioengineering where he led the teams developing the manufacturing processes and facilities for Genzyme's therapeutic products.

In addition to development and clinical manufacturing experience on several products, his teams helped to commercialize Ceredase, Cerezyme, Fabrazyme, Erbitux, Thyrogen and Aldurazyme.

Dr. Schoenfeld holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Bioengineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University, an MBA from St. Louis University and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Business Ethics from Bentley College. He has nearly thirty years of process development and manufacturing experience including large-scale perfusion cell culture for commercial manufacturing.

Dr. Schoenfeld is a co-founder of two chapters of the ISPE, is a member of the Northeastern Corporation, a member of the scientific advisory boards of GlycoFi and the Center for Sub-Surface Imaging and Sensing, has chaired the Cell Culture Engineering Conference and is a member of the College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board at Northeastern University.
